ORBIT - ALMS RACE AT MAZDA RACEWAY

Photo by Motorsport.comOrbit scored its second top-five finish after a roller-coaster American Le Mans Series race in Monterey, Calif., on Saturday. The trio of Luke Hines (London, England), John McMullen (Spring Lake, N.J.) and Bryce Miller (Summit, N.J.) survived a chilly six-hour race on the 2.238-mile Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca road course to finish fifth in the GTC class. Their No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car was supported by Marquis Jet, Grand Prix Racewear, IPC Systems, TOTAL Petroleum, Bergen County Auto Group and Macha Racing.

Miller started the race from fifth on the GTC grid and immediately gained a position before stopping for fuel during the first caution period. The stop dropped him back to seventh and he lost another position and a lap serving a penalty for a missed communication as he exited pit lane. But he steadily worked back up to third and regained the lap before handing off to McMullen.

ORBIT - LAGUNA SECA QUALIFYING

Photo by Motorsport.comBryce Miller and Orbit will start the American Le Mans Series race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca from fifth on the GTC class grid. Miller, of Summit, N.J., qualified the team's No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car in one minute 28.126 seconds at an average speed of 91.424 mph on the 2.238-mile road course in Monterey, Calif. He will drive the first stint in the six-hour race on Saturday, followed by Luke Hines of London, England, and John McMullen of Spring Lake, N.J.

"We're pretty excited about the improvements we're making as a team. Everything is moving forward and the team is taking shape," Miller said. "We missed the [car] setup for qualifying, so the result isn't as good as what we know that we're capable of, but it's okay because we're in the top five. That will be good enough to go ahead and race for six hours and compete for a result.

Orbit Takes 5th in GTC at Grand Prix of Long Beach

Photo by Motorsport.comNew Jersey drivers Bryce Miller (Summit) and John McMullen (Spring Lake) paced Orbit to a fifth-place GTC finish in the American Le Mans Series race on the streets of Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday. The race was the first GTC entry for the team and the first time the drivers have raced on the tough 1.968-mile street circuit.
Miller qualified the No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car seventh on the 10-car GTC grid, but the team moved up one position when the class pole-sitter's qualifying time was disallowed. McMullen started the race, dropping back a few positions early in his stint, then regaining two places to seventh in class. Miller took the wheel after 57 minutes of the 100-minute race, set the second-fastest GTC lap of the race and picked up two more positions to finish fifth.
